Soil moisture Gen1 & Gen2

I have 15 soil moisture sensors, 8 gen 1 and 7 gen 2.
The probe on the gen2 is shorted so doesn’t measure deeper soil moisture which I don’t think is great. I’ve done a comparison in the same pot.
The gen1 reads 75.5% which I expect to be correct but the gen2 reads 43.5%. I know the soil is correctly watered.
The moisture needs to be measured further down where the roots are.
So in my opinion the gen2 isn’t as good as the gen1.
Anyway, end of pointless post.

Thank you for sharing these details. I will pass them along to our product team. Gen 3 should address most of the known issues.

For Gen 2, you can insert the probe deeper into the soil, as there is no fixed insertion line. The lower part of the green housing can also be inserted into the soil.
