Connect to Alexa with SmartThings

Normally Alexa will recognize any device I add to SmartThings. It refuses to see the THIRDREALITY Smart Vibration Sensor I recently purchased from Amazon. After looking at support for Alexa I created a 3R account (another account for another company) to attach the device only then to discover I need the 3R hub to do that. This is really disappointing. Is there any way to get Alexa to connect to the 3R vibration sensor through SmartThings?

Is there no support for these devices? No one has answered my question. Is there any way to get this vibration censor to connect with my Echo without another 3R hub?

SrDeVo Is your device displaying normally in SmartThings and functioning properly? If you are using the SmartThings skill to interact with Echo, and the device is fully functional in SmartThings, the subsequent reporting to Echo is entirely handled by the SmartThings skill. Whether and what gets reported is determined by the skill, not the device. So if you wish to use the SmartThings skill, you will need to check with SmartThings whether they support it. The device itself cannot control the skill’s reporting behavior, because it only communicates with and reports to SmartThings. I hope you understand.

zhechen so it doesn’t show up in Alexa like every other device on ST? I understand that the skill is the middleware between the two devices, but the amazon ad said “works with Alexa” didn’t mention requiring other devices.

SrDeVo It is true that it can work directly with Echo devices. We also indicated that a hub is required. This is a Zigbee device. If your Echo device has Zigbee hub functionality, it can indeed be paired and used directly. Alternatively, you can use our skill or bridge. However, how can we control the functionality of a third-party skill? That needs to be handled by the third-party platform. How the SmartThings platform’s skill handles device status is not something we can determine. We hope you can understand.

How do I get the original driver for Third Reality vibration sensor as the Zigby contact sensor does not enable me to add any conditions

Hi, if you are using SmartThings, this is the screenshot of the driver’s page of the vibration sensor. You may switch back to the original driver and see if everything is back.

Try resetting & re-pairing this sensor, SmartThings will reconfigure and select the correct driver for you.

Siyo how do I repair and reset the third Reality vibration sensor,
All that I can find out is to reset the sensor press the pairing button for five seconds, but that just puts the sensor into pairing mode

Hold the reset button, and it will perform a factory reset, then enter pairing mode automatically.
