No Instructions for Smart Speaker

I know it’s a dev device, but there were ZERO instructions included with my Smart Speaker. I downloaded the app and it did not discover the device.

Is there any instructions for installing and troubleshooting?

andrewhberman Which app are you using? Are you pairing it with the V&M speaker?

I tried using the Third Reality app. I’d like to get it into Home Assistant.

andrewhberman If you are using the V&M assistant, you need to use the HA app to directly set up the device’s network connection.

Thanks, I added it to home assistant. It works well, EXCEPT that it seems to reboot itself every few minutes. I tried to do a firmware update but the reboot stops it before it can finish the update.

yea the 1.1.15 firmware update in Home Assistant tells you to flash it rather than do OTA….. that’s not possible since you only have the USB port for power. I have had to factory reset it just so it will “work again” but can’t update to the latest firmware. Has anyone figured out how to do this?

tengokei Flashing only requires a USB data cable; no special serial port is needed.

I’m having issues trying to get mine set up as well (note: this is the Smart Speaker, not the V&M speaker).

I tried to email support, but my email was returned as “spam”….

To sum up the problem:

I plug it in and the light is always solid blueish white.
The 3R app can’t find the device via BT.
It also can’t see it via Wifi (my phone doesn’t see a Wifi SSID being broacast either)
I tried every method I could think of the do a factory reset, but nothing seems to have any effect. I held the center button for 20s, I held the “dot” button for 20s, I held both the dot AND the center button for 20s. Nothing seems to work.
side note, the Mute Button doesn’t even light up

Any suggestions?

Hi, don’t know if you still have the debug board in the kit. You can connect this board to your computer and run a serial port software (like Mobaxterm) and see the status of the speaker. Basically, the speaker is running Linux; if something went wrong with the log, you can reflash the speaker’s system.
