I’m trying to set up a ThirdReality Smart Button with a 4th-generation Amazon Echo that has the built-in Zigbee hub. According to the FAQ, the button should be added to Alexa as a contact sensor, which can then be used as a trigger in routines. However, that is not what is happening in my case.
When I pair the device, Alexa discovers it as a switch instead of a contact sensor. I cannot manually change the device type to “contact sensor”. Because it is initially added as a switch, it also does not appear in the Smart Home device list when creating an Alexa Routine, so I cannot use it as a trigger.
I followed the instructions in the FAQ (resetting the button and using Alexa device discovery), which indicate that with an Echo Zigbee hub the button should register as a contact sensor where presses show as “open/closed” events. 
Has anyone run into this issue where the button is discovered as a switch instead of a contact sensor when pairing directly with an Echo Zigbee hub? If so, is there a workaround or a specific pairing method that fixes it?
