Soil moisture sensor is sporadic

I have one soil moisture sensor. I’m testing it out before I buy a bunch more but so far, it has been maybe 50% reliable. I can see that it’s connected but not reporting. In other cases it does report frequently.

I have changed the batter even though it reports 100%.

It says there is a firmware update. I started the update but couldn’t tell if it ended. I attempt again and it errors.

This doesn’t seem like a reliable product but I sure wish it was.

3rd reality: Can anything be done to fix this?

Could you please let us know the usage environment and the approximate distance between the gateway and the device? The latest version number is v1.00.38.If there is any suspicion that the humidity is abnormal, you can calibrate it manually. The method is as follows: Press the reset button quickly three times. The LED will light up for 3 seconds. Then, place it in the air for at least 15 seconds, and then put it entirely into water for at least 15 seconds. Be sure to use tap water. Do not use purified water or distilled water. After that, power off and restart, and it can be officially used.

You say to “power off and restart”, do you mean to remove the battery and put it back in? Should I turn it off while its still in the water?

Also, is this calibration reset when I hold the reset button, or when I remove the batteries?

otherwise all the crap goes back !!!
