ThirdReality monitoring plugs - reporting configuration

I believe you have received such requests before, but I haven’t seen an official answer.

TR power monitoring plugs are very good devices, with an excellent value for the money ratio. However, there is one problem - it is not possible to configure the power, voltage, energy, etc minimum and maximum reporting periods, as well as the reporting threshold.

Having one or two chatty devices is not a problem for any Zigbee coordinator, but when you have a dozen of these, they affect negatively the throughput of the Zigbee network and add unnecessary load to the Zigbee hub.

Can you consider addressing this issue in a future firmware update?

Regarding your question: Currently, the minimum and maximum reporting periods and thresholds for power, voltage, energy, etc., cannot be configured.

We are working on adding support for Zigbee product attribute configuration, possibly through third-party platforms such as HomeAssistant or 3R Smart Bridge MZ1. Solving the above issues is also on our road-map. There are more updates to support: such as countdown timer functions (local) and clearing total power consumption and more support. We will send out an official notification once we have an update.

That’s excellent news!

If you have such a practice, let me know if I can help in any way with testing Beta versions.
I have the TR Zigbee Matter Bridge, I can OTA update and then test the updates in the Hubitat platform.

Any chance you might have an update on this? I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out I couldn’t get my power plugs (3RSP02028BZ) to slow down their reporting on HomeAssistant. Thankfully I found this thread so I know it isn’t just me. I am running 1.0.0.92, and was hoping this would have been fixed by now. I started replacing my older Zigbee 1.2 devices with these, but have to put that on hold as my log files are unusable due to the constant flooding of data from these plugs. I use 1 of them for my 3D printer which fluctuates power like crazy, and I even deleted all of the reporting functions (other than on/off) and it doesn’t do anything.

Hello, the custom attribute setting function regarding the device status reporting threshold and period is still under development.
Once this function is supported, you can set the reporting frequency yourself.
If you have more detailed needs or questions, I can pass them on to our R&D team.

I have 8 Smart Plugs on Zigbee. They work fine but every time I have to restart HA I have to unplug and replug each one.
Several are being used with voice or button automations which don’t function unless I do the plugging.

I have over a dozen of these using Home Assistant + ZigBee2MQTT + SMLIGHT SLZB-06 controller and have been experiencing a bunch of them randomly going offline then returning online on their own. Not sure if the spamming of all this data could be the cause but this configuration is really needed. I’m thinking of switching brands. Shame as this was a reliable smart plug for months.

It’s pretty clear that @Ian et al. don’t care about this issue and have no intent on fixing it or acknowledging us, sadly. Time to move on to a better company I guess.

third_user I apologize for the inconvenience. However, on the Z2M platform, our device currently allows you to adjust the reporting frequency directly in the reporting page. Could you please let us know which version your device is currently running? We can help verify the functionality for you.

I’m a hubitat HE user - and really like my thirdreality stuff - but. (I just 2 days ago purchased another 4 devices…, already having 11 in my environment).
The outlet with Power meter was pretty cool - then the dialog in the HE forums about chattiness last year got a lot of folks turned off. I see one of our most respected reported a desire to help having noted the chattiness problem on the power reports a year + ago. I"m fighting a load problem myself and I’m being forced to remove thirdreality power meter capable outlets and toss them due to the load they cause. I just tried to post a screen cap but was unable to.
My office floor heater is connected to HE and reports 176,623 events. the next most impactual device is my hub itself at 27,808. The % of busy of the thirdreality outlet is 56% of the total. After 18 months of hoping for an improvement, it seems its time to move away from these devices.

jshimota You can go to the device details page, select the “Device Info” tab, click on “Type” and choose “Generic Zigbee Outlet,” then click “Save.” After that, go back to the “Device” page and refresh it. Next, return to the device details page, select the “Preferences” tab, and you will see the option “Enable automatic power reporting (default: Disabled).” You can set the reporting interval here. Please note: after saving the settings, remember to go back to the “Device Info” tab and revert the “Type” to its original setting.

Is there a similar way to adjust reporting frequency within Home Assistant? If not, what other method can be used to change the default? I have 18 of the switches (mostly for power measurement) but when I added the last set of three, my Zigbee blinds now take a a very long time to resound to commands (if they respond at all)

d_aye Hi, for both ZHA and Z2M, you will be able to configure the reporting time.

Z2M:
On the device detail page, go to [Report] to customize all related settings.

ZHA:
You will need to add a intigreation called [Zigbee ToolKit]
Then, in the menu on the left side, click on [Developer Tools] - [Action]
In the drop-down boxes, you can explore additional settings for the reporting interval.
